The Capilano Rugby Club is excited to announce that Curry Hitchborn has been appointed Director of Rugby. This position will oversee all rugby aspects for the Sr. Women, Sr. Men, and Youth programs, as well as increase engagement with North Shore high school rugby programs. Improving the links between youth rugby, school and club, and senior rugby is a critical value for our club.

Director of Rugby is a new position at the Capilano Rugby Club. Some of the main focuses of this role is to grow club membership and increase player retention. The position will support coaching development for all aspects of the club. While measuring these priorities will take time and involve some changes, we anticipate that increased participation and player development will ultimately lead our club back to winning provincial championships.

Curry has been involved in rugby on the North Shore for the past twenty years. Coaching high school rugby, youth club rugby and youth representative rugby with the VRU, BC Rugby and Rugby Canada. Curry also had a very successful tenure at UBC winning multiple Canadian University Rugby Championships and multiple Rounsefell Cups. In 2016, Curry was awarded the Gerald McGavin Coaching Award.

The Capilano Rugby Club was where Curry got started in rugby. First as a player, before Curry coached U16 to U19 youth teams at our club. In addition, he has coached every division of Sr. Men's rugby at the Capilano Rugby Club. In 2012, Curry was the Premier Men's Forwards Coach during our clubs Rounsefell Cup winning season.

The Capilano Rugby Club is looking forward to having Curry back at his home club. This new position is exciting for the growth and development of our great club both on and off the pitch.
