Capilano RFC Values - Williams Lake Tournament
Back to all posts ›
Hello Everyone,
I trust you are all enjoying your summer and are looking forward to representing the Capilano Rugby Club in Williams Lake this year.
On behalf of the Executive, we want to wish you the best of luck at the tournament this year. We also want to send along a friendly reminder about our Code of Conduct and CRFC Values (together, the “Code and Values”), as reproduced below. Please remember that whether you are playing as a Capilano, attending as a non-player, playing for another team, or playing for multiple teams this year, as a Member of the Capilano Rugby Club during the regular season, you are bound by our Code and Values at all club-sanctioned events. Therefore, on behalf of the executive, we ask that while you attend this year’s Williams Lake tournament, you remain mindful of our Code and Values, and govern yourselves accordingly while representing our club. And most importantly, we hope that you have fun!
We at Capilano RFC embrace the values of Inclusivity, Community and Respect for all people who choose to participate in, spectate, or volunteer with the game of rugby at the Club. Therefore, discriminatory or inappropriate comments and behaviour by members of the Club are unacceptable. The Club's commitment to these values means that the Club has a zero-tolerance policy towards any behaviour or actions including, but not limited to, the following:
· harassment;
· bullying;
· racism;
· sexism;
· nudity (outside of changerooms);
· disrespectful conduct towards any member or volunteer inside or outside the changerooms;
· violence/assault (physical or sexual);
· homophobia
· any type of abuse (sexual, physical, or verbal); and
· any type of discrimination
(together, “Inappropriate Conduct”).
Moreover, we wanted to ensure that every Club member and volunteer understands that the zero tolerance policy towards the above-noted Inappropriate Conduct applies any time Club members are: travelling to scheduled fixtures, attending Club events, attending activities located at the Club or on Club property, attending events outside the Club where two or more members of the Club have gathered (for example, community bars), or at any time that a Club member may be reasonably expected to be a representative of the Club. Inappropriate Conduct is not limited to in-person activities and can include online communication and behaviours towards other Club members.
What happens if you engage in Inappropriate Conduct:
If any Club member engages in Inappropriate Conduct, formal penalties may be made against them, including, but not limited to, suspensions and/or expulsion.
How to report Inappropriate Conduct:
Our goal at Capilano RFC is to ensure that all Club members and volunteers feel safe and welcome at the Club at all times. To ensure this, we have created a “safe avenue” and process for
complaints to be brought forward by anyone that has been subjected to, or witnessed any Inappropriate Conduct that falls within our zero-tolerance policy. All submissions can be made anonymously to: values@capilanorfc.com.
We know that everyone attending this year’s tournament will respect these values and represent the CRFC in fine fashion. Again, we wish you the best of luck!
Go Caps!
